The January 6th lawbreaker President, day 96

Notes of day 96 of the presidency of the power-crazed, January 6th lawbreaker, 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

Judge David Carpenter
Judge David Carpenter posted on Facebook the following {presumably in connection with the story of Wisconsin judge arrested and charged in federal court for allegedly obstructing immigration agents):
People should be aware that it’s not uncommon for ICE to seek to deport criminal defendants. If those defendants are out on bond, and ICE deports them, then prosecutors cannot prosecute them. We issue warrants for their failure to appear, but ICE doesn’t care. They deport them anyway. The cases remain open and unprosecuted because ICE has interfered with prosecution.
It’s also a very bad policy to create an atmosphere where criminal defendants who are on bond, or victims of crime, or witnesses to crime, won’t appear because they are worried about ICE taking them into custody. That’s not good for our community for obvious reasons.

Perhaps Judge Carpenter's post could made a subject of an Alabama State Bar Bench & Bar Relations Committee discussion event at the annual Alabama State Bar meeting on July 16-19 at the Grand Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama.
Thanks.

Joyce Vance on Pam Bondi
From Occupy Democrats Facebook April 25 at 2:05 PM ·
BREAKING: Former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance incinerates MAGA Attorney General Pam Bondi over her deranged appearance on Fox News during which she viciously attacked the judicial branch.
The Trump administration wants to destroy our court systems for good but thankfully heroes are standing up...
"No attorney general should ever speak like this. She's Trump's advocate, not the people's lawyer, which is what the AG's job is," Vance wrote on X, sharing a clip of Bondi.
"Whatever state she is barred in should start disciplinary proceedings immediately. This isn't subtle or arguable, it's wrong," she added.
In the clip in question, Bondi defended the Trump administration's decision to arrest a former judge in New Mexico for allegedly harboring gang members and undocumented migrants.
A sitting judge in Wisconsin was also arrested for allegedly helping an undocumented immigrant evade arrest after she stood up to plainclothes ICE agents agents who outrageously came to make an arrest inside her courtroom.
As is always with this administration, it's best to presume the worst and question any allegations that they level. They've been routinely deporting innocent people so we know that they have no interest in the truth.
"What's happened to our judiciary is beyond me," said Bondi, a flagrantly corrupt woman who during her time as Attorney General of Florida refused to join a lawsuit against the scam Trump University after Donald donated $25,000 to her PAC.
"When the American public hears this and they think these were once upstanding people in their communities and their professions and they put it all on the line for this," said the Fox host. "I mean, have you dug into their motive? Like what inspired them to carry out these acts and harbor criminals."
"They're deranged," claimed Bondi. "That's all I can think of. I cannot believe— I think some of these judges think they are beyond and above the law and they are not!"
Ironically, Donald Trump clearly sees himself above the law. He's a convicted felon and is still refusing to obey a 9-0 ruling from the Supreme Court to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States.
"And we're sending a very strong message today: If you are harboring a fugitive we don't care who you are," said Bondi. "If you are helping hide one, if you are giving a [Tren de Aragua] member guns, anyone who is illegally in this country, we will come after you and we will prosecute you."
"We will find you," vowed Bondi.
Let's be very clear. This is not about enforcing the law or keeping Americans safe. This is about terrorizing the judiciary so that judges are too afraid to stand up to Trump's increasingly fascist efforts to seize more and more power for himself.

This email is in follow up to my email to you yesterday related to arrested Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan and urging that the Committee hold a discussion event about the same at the July annual ASB meeting at the Grand Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in Point Clear, Alabama.
Yesterday Joyce Vance said on "X" this about Pam Bondi's actions and statements:
No attorney general should ever speak like this. She's Trump's advocate, not the people's lawyer, which is what the AG's job is. Whatever state she is barred in should start disciplinary proceedings immediately. This isn't subtle or arguable, it's wrong. https://x.com/JoyceWhiteVance/status/1915820459465085155
Certainly, any discussion event that the Bench & Bar Relations Committee holds at the annual meeting as I am urging should extend to what Joyce Vance said about Pam Bondi per the above.
Perhaps the Committee could set up a debate between Joyce Vance and an Alabama lawyer who will argue the other side about Pam Bondi. Former United States attorney Jay Town comes to mind as a possibility. Even better maybe AG Steve Marshall would be willing to argue against Joyce Vance.
Thanks.

Trump's coming to Alabama to give the commencement address at the University of Alabama should be availed of to instigate public discussion in Alabama about whether there should be a national civic uprising to defeat Trumpism, as David Brooks is calling for. https://trumptweet.blogspot.com/.../the-january-6th...

Thank you.

President@ua.edu
At a time when the Trump administration is attempting to dictate policy and priorities at universities, stifle dissent, and lay the groundwork for replacement of our cherished democracy with an autocracy reminiscent of Nazi Germany, I am shocked that the University of Alabama has invited Trump to speak at its commencement ceremony.
As a member if the Alabama State Bar Association, I consider it my duty to speak out against your participation in Trump's attack on our federal Constitution.
I intend to join my fellow citizens in protest on campus on May 1. I hope we will expose you and the University as tools of a repressive regime that has no place in an institution of higher learning.
I demand that you withdraw the invitation immediately and, if not, provide ample security for what will be a well-attended and well-publicized protest.
