Dear Mr. Wuest:
Your name is on the WAFF48 online article Phillip W. Williams Jr. sworn in as U.S. Attorney for Northern District of Alabama.
I will avail of Donald Trump's installing Phillip W. Williams Jr. as the new U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama as a basis for discussion and debate about weaponization, or not, of the Department of Justice by Trump. (For background of myself and what I have done related to this subject, please see Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: The condition of the Department of Justice and its FBI.)
Please advise me whether WAFF48 has an interest in participating in such discussion and debate.
Thank you.

Dear Ms. Shook:
Your name is on the WAAY31 online article New U.S. Attorney sworn in for Northern District of Alabama | News | waaytv.com.
I am working on availing of Donald Trump's installing Phillip W. Williams Jr. as the new U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama as a basis for instigating discussion and debate about weaponization, or not, of the Department of Justice by Trump. (For background of myself and what I have done related to this subject, please see Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: The condition of the Department of Justice and its FBI.)
I have several parties in mind for soliciting participation, including former United States Attorneys Joyce Vance and Jay Town. Also, former United States Senator from Alabama and former United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions would be very good for this.
Please advise me whether WAAY31 has an interest in promoting or participating in such discussion and debate.
Thank you.

Subject: Shoals Chamber and Phillip W. Williams Jr., new U.S. Attorney for ND of Alabama
Dear Shoals Chamber of Commerce President Burns:
I am a busybody, retired Alabama lawyer.
I am trying to avail of Donald Trump's installing Phillip W. Williams Jr. as the new U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama as a basis for instigating debate in Alabama at this point in the 2026 elections about Trump corruption, the rule of law, and weaponization of the Department of Justice by Trump. See Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: Phillip W. Williams Jr., new U.S. Attorney for ND of Alabama.
The Alabama business community has, or should have, an interest in the extent to which Trump is corrupting the American economy by Trump's using the Presidency to profit himself and his family, by Trump's business dealings with foreign entities and having the Federal government acquire stakes in business corporations, and by Trump's awarding Federal contracts to parties as Trump chooses.
Such corruption of the American economy by Trump goes on by Trump turning the United States Department of Justice into Trump's private law firm.
Whether Trump's corruption will or will not be stopped by the courts is playing out. Donald Trump slams courts after Kennedy Center ruling, vows to fight 'rigged' system.
The complicity of the Republicans in Congress in Trump's corruption is a huge factor, and the 2026 elections will be the ultimate opportunity for voters to be a check on Trump's corruption in our government of "checks and balances." (May such "check" be manifested by the voters in the Alabama 4th Congressional district voting against Robert Aderholt in November.)
You may wonder why I have chosen the Shoals Chamber of Commerce to whom to send this email.
I have previously done emailing to Alabama chambers of commerce to try to raise concerns about Trump. See particularly the August 8, 2025, email I sent to Alabama chambers of commerce that is posted at Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: How fearful of Trump is the Alabama business community?.
I have gotten no response to this previous emailing to Alabama chambers of commerce, and such has contributed to my picking the Shoals Chamber of Commerce for this email. (Lucky you, hunh?!)
Thank you for any attention you give to this email.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

Dear Alabama State Bar Executive Council:
At 12:08 am eastern time this morning, Trump posted on his Truth Social https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/116678544710349966, which reads:
When a Star Witness totally recants, and in every way reveals that he was pressured and coerced to give testimony, and when the Prosecutor admits that this Witness was the single reason that the case was brought, there was no other, how can that Case not be immediately dismissed? That is exactly what happened in the Democrat New York Attorney General and Manhattan District Attorney’s Hoaxes against me. Michael Cohen has come out and unequivocally stated that the Radical Left Prosecutors, Tish James and Alvin Bragg, pressured and coerced him to testify against your favorite President, ME, when they made him the key player in their Political Witch Hunts. Now that his testimony is wiped away, and the unAmerican, Political Charade “Cases” are even further discredited, they should be put out of their misery, and dismissed, once and for all. Our Constitution, and the Rule of Law, demand immediate and swift dismissal, as well as for the Perpetrators of the Radical Left Lawfare and Weaponization to be held criminally responsible for their terrible misdeeds. We have to restore Confidence and Honor in our Justice System. I am an innocent man who has been horribly treated. Hopefully the Courts will do what everyone knows should be done. Thank you! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Thanks for your attention.

Suggestions for Alabama Congressional candidates

DRAFT [edited 6/1]

Below are my suggestions for Alabama Congressional candidates for campaigning against Trump and the MAGA Republican party.

1. Trump

Trump is an 80 year-old power-crazed egomaniac whose overriding motivation is for more power, self-glorification and being the center of the universe, with little regard for what is good or bad for the American people.

Trump has a vise grip on the MAGA Republican party that enables Trump to get what he wants, whether good or bad for the American people.

The bad for the American people coming from Trump greatly comes from his dishonesty that is not subject to any restraint and disable the American people from grappling with and working collectively to try to solve big problems the country faces, such as immigration and climate change.

To stop the bad coming from Trump, Trump's dishonesty must be battled on all fronts and Trump and MAGA need to be defeated in the 2026 elections.

I challenge my opponent to a debate about this.

2. Immigration

Secure borders are needed and Trump has secured the borders.

As to illegal immigrants in the United States, some Americans want all illegal immigrants (say the number is as high as 20,000,000 illegal immigrants) rounded up and deported, no matter the cost and no matter inhumanity that is inflicted on the illegal immigrants and others.

Other Americans think a better way can be found to handle the matter of illegal immigrants in the United States at this time. I am in favor of finding a better way than rounding up and deporting all illegal immigrants, be it 20,000,000 or some other number.

I challenge my opponent to discuss this with me in front of the voters.

[Edit  5/27] Jacob Bouma-Sims, Democratic candidate in the 6th Congressional district reacted on the immigration issue, by saying the following:
So, let’s talk about the immigration part. I’m going to be running as an openly pro- DREAM Act anti-ICE candidate. While I agree that illegal immigration is a problem, just like other civil infractions and nonviolent crimes, I am not going to affirm any MAGA narratives about the level of the problem or Trump’s handling of it when I think they’re dubious. I would rather point out what the actual mainstream Democratic position has been on this and that the wall (should it come up), is not a solution to the vast majority of illegal immigration.
Immigrants make district 6 strong. Immigration restrictions and enforcement actions should be based on individual merit and economic needs, not racial prejudice or cultural anxiety. Jacob supports passing the DREAM Act, reforming temporary worker visas, implementing protections for stateless people, abolishing ICE and breaking up the DHS. He stands against MAGA extremist attacks on birthright citizenship and family immigration sponsorship.

3. The economy and inflation

The outbreak of COVID in 2020 was horrendous. There was massive fear and uncertainty, and government and society opted for a significant economic shutdown for addressing the situation. Ramifications from this included massive governmental spending relief to ward off an economic collapse and also lasting disruptions of supply chains.

On the inflation front, in 2020 the inflation was at about 1.2%, largely due to the economic impacts of the COVID. In 2021 and 2022 inflation went to the 7.0% level, driven by supply chain disruptions and increased demand as the economy began to recover from the pandemic, and thereafter inflation declined to the 3% range as the economy became more stable.

Now the Iran war is causing great uncertainty about increasing prices and risks for the economy.

There is a hundred years or more of history of the government managing or trying to manage up and downs of the economy, and one can be dubious about quick governmental fixes of economic problems. Various things should be explored.

I challenge my opponent to discuss this with me in front of the voters.

4. Elections

Before 2016 election results in the United States were generally accepted by candidates and voters.

In the 10 years since 2016, Trump has wrongfully caused great doubt to arise about elections and election results, and MAGA Republicans have enabled Trump in this regard.

This doubt that Trump has wrongfully caused is a potent reason that Trump and MAGA need to be decisively defeated in the 2026 elections.

I challenge my opponent to a debate about this in front of the voters.

5. Climate change

I contend that Trump's dishonesty disables the American people from working collectively to ameliorate the problem of climate change that the country faces.

I challenge my opponent to discuss this in front of the voters.

Hello,
I am sure you know the house brings articles of impeachment. The Senate will hear the impeachment cases as Judges. I have sat as a judge in our state and municipal courts. In that role, I understood you had to be fair to both sides and make decisions based on the evidence. In the event a trial is had in the senate, I would listen to the evidence and make an informed decision.
That is a promise I can keep.

The Alabama State Bar Executive Council (of which you are a member and serve as Secretary) has made no reply to numerous emails I have sent importuning the Executive Council to speak to Alabamians about the destruction that Trump is doing to the rule of law in the United States.
I consider the foregoing a dereliction on the part of the Alabama State Bar Executive Council.
I am trying to publicize the same in various ways.
The below emails are indicative of the publicizing I am trying to do.
There has been and will be more such emails and other publicizing efforts.

Thank you very much for your attention to this email.

Putin, Trump, and Xi are all ignorant and incompetent, each is destroying their respective government and each has the power to take the world down with him, all are psychopaths. As Alfred Pennywieght says, “some people want to set the world on fire just to watch it burn.”

I honestly do not know what the Alabama State Bar could do in this particular situation. China has a one party system and Xi Jinping is the President of China and has concentrated power extensively with eliminated term limits that make him the dominant leader. This is exactly what Trump wants to happen here in America. His view has been on the New World Order since he came down his golden escalator. China is an authoritarian one party state and to me, that is a dictatorship. They do not have elections or checks and balances that are considered to be a democracy, but....do we? Donald Trump has made no secret about his admiration for dictators. His dream is to rule over this country as a king with no accountability to the people. He is the worst thing that has ever happened to this country. I fail to understand how intelligent people can be so ignorant.

Dear Alabama State Bar Executive Council:
Following the report of Donald Trump unable to say if Xi Jinping is a dictator, can the Alabama State Bar assist Alabamians in deciding whether China's Xi is a dictator or not?
Thanks.

I believe the above subject line "Todd Blanche - a study in self-abasement for the next Alabama Attorney General" is by itself sufficient for the messaging intended by this email.

Email to Professor Jonathan Den Hartog, the Chair of the Samford University history department, the following email regarding "Justice Department scrubs website of news releases about Jan. 6 defendants"

Subject: Justice Department scrubs website of news releases about Jan. 6 defendants
Dear Professor Hartog:
Are you (or is anyone else in the Samford history department) in a position to comment publicly about the significance of Justice Department scrubs website of news releases about Jan. 6 defendants | AP News?
This is part of the controversy about whether Trump is trying to rewrite the history of January 6th and how that affects or can affect our democracy, the rule of law, and our governance, politics and elections.
My goal here is to complain to Senators Tuberville and Britt and Congressman Palmer about Trump seeking to rewrite the history of January 6th, and a public comment from someone such as yourself would be very helpful to me.
Thanks for anything you can do here.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck
