It would seem that the top mission of the ABA Task Force for American Democracy to "bolster voter confidence in elections by safeguarding the integrity and non-partisan administration of elections, and by providing support for election workers and officials" has become much less critical at this time in light of Trump's lopsided victory in the election, and that the ABA Task Force should make a shift of its main attention to the importance to democracy and the rule of law of an independent Department of Justice.
Do you know if the ABA Task Force is considering at this time any such shift of its attention?

I am in Alabama and have also sent the below email to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall about the importance of an independent Department of Justice in the functioning of our democracy and the rule of law.
I hope NAAG will address the threat that Donald Trump poses to the ruled of law and to the independence of the Department of Justice and how that could have bearing on the independence of state Attorneys General and district attorneys.

The American Bar Association Task Force for American Democracy, which was formed in August 2023, for a year had a main focus on bolstering voter confidence in elections by safeguarding the integrity and non-partisan administration of elections, and by providing support for election workers and officials. Task Force for American Democracy
This focus of the Task Force on the administration of elections has become much less critical in light of Donald Trump's decisive victory in the 2024 election.
As a result, I am urging that the ABA Task Force shift its attention to the importance to democracy and the rule of law of an independent Department of Justice.
I am seeking avenues in Alabama for having discussions about the importance of an independent Department of Justice for our democracy and the rule of law.
I am contacting law schools, history departments and political science departments at Alabama universities to see if they are interested in involvement in the discussions I am seeking to bring about. With the developments that have occurred, and with what a second Trump presidency portends for democracy and the rule of law, in Alabama I am seeking avenues for having discussions about the importance of an independent Department of Justice for democracy and the rule of law.
In doing this, I am contacting law schools, history departments and political science departments at Alabama universities to see if they are interested in involvement in the discussions I am seeking to bring about. Various forms of resistance to the second Trump presidency are springing up, and I consider this my form of resistance.
If a resistance is forming in the Dartmouth community, may what I am trying for in Alabama be a suggestion for the Dartmouth community.
I am copying on this email the Dartmouth persons to whom I sent my July 15th email. Whether or not those persons want to consider themselves resisters, I think they should at least be open to discussions about the importance of an independent Department of Justice to the rule of law and our democracy.
