The January 6th lawbreaker President, day 109

Notes of day 109 of the presidency of the power-crazed, January 6th lawbreaker, 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

Random emails to Alabama lawyers
I am randomly sending individual emails to Alabama lawyers along the lines of the following:

Subject: Random email about Trump and the rule of law
Dear ___:
I am a retired Alabama lawyer who is very agitated about the rule of law under Trump. See Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: The January 6th lawbreaker President, day 99.
What do you think?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Rob Shattuck

To whom it may concern:
For more than a year and a half I have been trying to call out the Alabama legal profession publicly about Trump and the rule of law.
I could use the below article to send more emails to Alabama lawyers.
The End of Rule of Law - The Atlantic
The 47th president seems to wish he were king—and he is willing to destroy what is precious about this country to get what he wants.
By J. Michael Luttig
I am getting to the point I think it is not worth doing that.
What do you think?

On Facebook
I posted the above "To whom it may concern:" on my Facebook and on my Facebook group Alabama Lawyers Against Trump | Facebook
Also, I am a member of Blue Dots Alabama | Facebook and of 50501 Alabama | Facebook, and I submitted the above "To whom it may concern:" to those groups and the groups posted the same on their Facebook pages.

Facebook comments posted on above posts (names omitted)
[From me] ____ I continue wishing for the Alabama Trump resistance to do organized, targeted emailing, such as directed towards the Alabama legal profession and the Alabama business community, as may advance the case against Trump. _____ has offered to participate. I think more participants are needed to get going. _______________.
[To me] I believe calling people out publicly is more effective... Make a post and tag them.
[From me] ____________ I am exerting myself greatly to call out people publicly via my blogs, emails (on which Alabama TV stations get copied and which are posted in my blogs to make a record for others to see) and to a lesser extent via posts on Facebook where my tags have limited reach.
[To me] Many people are doing mass emails to multiple sources daily
[From me] ______ Can you put me in touch with them?
[To me]  there are many groups doing mass emails... There are prompts posted almost daily through social media. A group of my friends sends them to each other and we all do what we can when we can. All activists are at capacity. This is on each individual to start making noise in their own way and fight for what affects them and their loved ones. Causes will start colliding.
[From me] ____ Again I would like a name, email address, a link that will identify the person, or other info that would allow me to get in touch with them. If you prefer not to give such information, that's ok.
[From me] ____ Alternatively, let me come up with something that you might communicate to them for introducing myself to them.
[From me] ___________  Further alternatively, just give them a link to my blog and say, "This guy would like to communicate with you if you are receptive to his getting in touch with you." https://trumptweet.blogspot.com/
[To me]  these are graphics that groups post and circulate online. I do not personally know the ones making the graphics I simply see a call to action and get to action either emailing, calling, mailing, or posting.
[From me]_______________  Thank you. Per the post I made last night here on 50501 Alabama's group page and elsewhere, I will be focused for now on publicly calling out the Alabama legal profession about Trump and the rule of law. ______
[To me] I invited a few attorney friends to your group hopefully they are already doing work behind the scenes
[From me] I hope those working behind the scenes have an ultimate goal of publicly calling out the Alabama legal profession to speak up about Trump and the rule of law.
[To me] We must keep pushing. Slow down if you think it will make you more effective, but never stop until he is stopped.
[From me] _____ I would like to think this would be more effective if other Alabama lawyers (and non-lawyers) would send emails to the Alabama State Bar, to local bar associations, to Alabama law school deans and to others in the Alabama legal community urging them to speak up about Trump and the rule of law. ______

To Alabama State Bar Bench & Bar Relations Committee:
Does the Alabama State Bar Bench & Bar Relations Committee agree or disagree with Pam Bondi's cutting off the American Bar Association's access to non-public information about Trump nominees. and her saying,
“Unfortunately, the ABA no longer functions as a fair arbiter of nominees’ qualifications, and its ratings invariably and demonstrably favor nominees put forth by Democratic Administrations . . . [and] “there is no justification for treating the ABA differently from such other activist organizations and the Department of Justice will not do so.” Pam Bondi Ends Bar Association Role in Trump Judicial Picks | TIME

Subject: "What would William W. Horton say to the Alabama legal profession today"
Alabama lawyer Kristin Waters recently shared on Facebook a 2019 Facebook post made by deceased Alabama lawyer William W. Horton.
Kristin Waters said she missed William W. Horton's voice (his 2019 post was about immigrants) and she "can only imagine what he'd have to say about what's going on in our country right now".
I commented back, asking "What would Bill Horton say to the Alabama legal profession today?", giving a link to Citizens Acting to End the Trump Presidency: The January 6th lawbreaker President, day 109, which sets out my asking the Alabama legal profession about Trump and the rule of law.
The Facebook posts and comment are copied and pasted below.
It is to be fervently wished that what Bill Horton said in his 2019 Facebook post about immigrants and what I have said about Trump and the rule of law be the subject of conversations among Alabama lawyers who are gathered this weekend at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama, for the Alabama State Bar annual meeting.
Thank you.

Kristin Waters shared a memory.

July 14 at 9:46AM  ·

I miss William W Horton's voice. I can only imagine what he'd have to say about what's going on in our country right now. ❤

Earlier today, my good friend Michael G Bergmann shared "The Immigrant's Creed" by the Reverend Jose Luis Casal, soon to retire as the Director of Presbyterian World Mission (PCUSA). I had never encountered it before, and I love it. Maybe you will too:
I believe in Almighty God, who guided the people in exile and in exodus, the God of Joseph in Egypt and Daniel in Babylon, the God of foreigners and immigrants.
I believe in Jesus Christ, a displaced Galilean, who was born away from his people and his home, who fled his country with his parents when his life was in danger, and returning to his own country suffered the oppression of the tyrant Pontius Pilate, the servant of a foreign power, who then was persecuted, beaten, and finally tortured, accused and condemned to death unjustly. But on the third day, this scorned Jesus rose from the dead, not as a foreigner but to offer us citizenship in heaven.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the eternal immigrant from God’s kingdom among us, who speaks all languages, lives in all countries, and reunites all races.
I believe that the church is the secure home for the foreigner and for all believers who constitute it, who speak the same language and have the same purpose. I believe that the communion of the saints begins when we accept the diversity of the saints.
I believe in the forgiveness of sin, which makes us all equal, and in reconciliation, which identifies us more than does race, language, or nationality.
I believe that in the resurrection God will unite us as one people in which all are distinct and all are alike at the same time.
Beyond this world, I believe in life eternal in which no one will be an immigrant but all will be citizens of God’s kingdom, which will never end. Amen.

Rob Shattuck
